Watch when Deontay Wilder obliterated Bermane Stiverne with first-round KO and ragdolled referee who was trying to stop the fight

Deontay Wilder sent out a statement to the boxing world with his first-round knockout of Bermane Stiverne back in November 2017.
The then-WBC heavyweight champion was calling for a unification fight with Anthony Joshua and made his point in devastating fashion.

Three years prior, Stiverne had won the WBC title which Vitali Klitschko left vacant after retiring from the sport.
His first challenger was Wilder, who’d racked up a stunning record of 38-0 (38 KOs).
However, in his first world title fight, Wilder took a different approach and outboxed the solid, durable Stiverne.
He won by unanimous decision to claim the belt and, to this day, that fight stands as his only win on points.

When the rematch came around, Stiverne was far less solid and durable.
Wilder flattened the Haitian-Canadian with a straight right hand within the first round.
Stiverne made it back to his feet and foolishly told the referee he was alright to continue.
Wilder posed in the middle of the ring with his hands down before unleashing once again, this time a right hook knocked his challenger down.

Stiverne remarkably got up a second time and it looked as though he might make it to the bell.
However, Wilder had other ideas.
He skidded across the ring upon finding out there were only ten seconds left in the round and pummelled his foe with one final combination which left him slumped on the canvas.
Referee Arthur Mercante Jr attempted to pull Wilder away but ended up being ragdolled by the furious heavyweight champion, who retained his title in spectacular fashion.

Wilder later told CBS Sports: “I was possessed.
“At one point in time in the fight, I watched myself whupping on this man.
“I was standing on the outside of my body just watching and observing myself beat this man.
“Every move, that wasn’t Deontay. That was the ‘Bronze Bomber’ for sure. It’s crazy.”
