Tom Brady is friends with Donald Trump, has never tried coffee, follows a strict alkaline diet and is now headed for 10th Super Bowl with new team Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tom Brady is headed to his tenth Super Bowl – his first with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers – when Kansas City Chiefs visit Florida this weekend.
Brady caused shockwaves in the NFL last year when he announced he was leaving the New England Patriots after an illustrious 20 years, which included six Super Bowl wins.

He is already the GOAT of the sport and can cement his legacy even further by winning another title with a different team.
Standing in the 43-year-old’s way are the defending champions, headed by the best player in the NFL right now – Patrick Mahomes.
On the field, Brady has been incredible for so long and has a great chance of winning his seventh title.
Off the field, he has some interesting quirks that make him a different character.
Here, talkSPORT.com, looks at some of the things you may not know about Tom Brady.
The TB12 Method
Brady detailed his diet in his 2017 book, The TB12 Method, and it’s quite strict. It includes drinking half of one’s body weight in ounces of water and lots of fruits and vegetables.
His personal chef once said that 80 per cent of the food in the Brady household is vegetables.
Brady also follows the 80/20 method – 80 per cent of his food is alkaline as he believes it reduces inflammation in the body.
This means he avoids things like mushrooms, tomatoes, peppers and aubergines.

“The regimen I follow is a mix of Eastern and Western philosophies,” Brady wrote in the book. “Some of these principles have been around for thousands of years. My nutritional regimen may seem restrictive to some people, but to me it feels unnatural to eat any other way.”
“Many people have conditioned their bodies to a nutritional regiment made up of lots of white or pale-looking foods—french fries, potato chips, white bread, chicken nuggets—that don’t exist in nature.”
His diet has become less strict in recent years and he allows himself cheat meals like pizza.

He’s never had coffee
Plenty of us need that morning cup of coffee to get ourselves going but not Tom Brady.
It’s one of the things in his diet he avoids… in fact he even admitted to never having tried it.
“No, I never had any coffee or anything like that,” Brady told WEEI. “I just never tried it.”
Friends with Donald Trump
Brady is a long-time friend of former President Donald Trump and is believed to have known him for around 20 years.
Trump name dropped Brady during his 2016 Presidential campaign saying the then New England Patriots quarterback supported him.
However, his wife, Gisele Bundchen, said on Instagram that she did not back Trump.
A Make America Great Hat was photographed in his locker and he subsequently decided to not discuss politics after discussions with his wife, something he later described as a ‘good decision’.
Brady did not join his Patriots teammates in visiting the White House after their 2017 Super Bowl victory citing ‘family reasons’.

Photograph signings
A Washington Post article following the ‘deflategate’ scandal of 2014 revealed how he won’t sign photographs of himself throwing a football unless he’s happy with the way it looks.
He obsesses over his well-grooved throwing motion, to the point of vanity.
The head of the Patriots’ media relations once brought him a photo to autograph. Brady rejected it because he didn’t like the way his finish looked. “I don’t want that one — look at my mechanics,” he is reported to have said.
Funny social media posts
Brady is known to posts some very bizarre images on social media, including mock up images of newspaper pages following victories.
His first ever tweet back in 2019 was about him retiring – and it turned out he was just trolling everyone.

Was this a bad joke?

Early bedtime
As part of his daily routine he goes to bed at 8:30pm… every day (except on game days, of course).
But this isn’t just a during the season thing… he sticks to the rigid schedule throughout the off-season as well.
Brain games
Not only does Brady like to give his body a daily workout, he makes sure he keeps his mind sharp too.
The 43-year-old says he works through a dozen or so brain games a day to help keep him on the ball.
In his TB12 Method book, he wrote of the games: “Three balls appear; they start to move around, and then more balls are introduced; you have to point out the original balls.
“Another game: Twelve birds flash on the screen, one with dark wings, and you have to click on the quadrant of the screen where the dark-winged bird was located when the birds disappear.”

He paid extra to move to the 12th floor
The New York Post reported that in 2016 Brady and his wife had agreed to buy an apartment in New York, one that overlooked the Hudson River.
But months later, after winning his fifth Super Bowl, they decided they wanted to move to the 12th floor. It ended up costing an extra $12million.
“Perhaps Tom is superstitious, or perhaps in honour of his Super Bowl win, or the recent return of his stolen Super Bowl jerseys, he decided he had to be on the 12th floor,” a source told the Post.
