Simon Jordan tells Man United fans to ‘make your mind up’ over criticism of Glazer owners following Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Super Bowl victory

Manchester United owner Joel Glazer has become a victim of his father’s decisions, says Simon Jordan who appeared to defend the American amid the latest round of criticism from upset Red Devils fans.
The Glazers enjoyed a night of celebration on Sunday as their NFL franchise the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were crowned Super Bowl winners.

But the family’s success in the States has only led to an increase of hate towards them from England, as United fans look on from afar with envy.
Tampa Bay had only won the Super Bowl once before in their history, and largely have two big signings to thank for their 2020 championship success, having invested huge money to bring two of American football’s biggest stars to Florida – Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski.
In comparison, it’s not as though United have been short of cash over the years, but the Glazers have faced huge criticism over the money they’ve taken out of the Premier League giants since taking over ownership in 2005.
Fans have also accused the cheifs of a general lack of care and attention of their beloved club, especially compared to their focus on the Bucs across the pond, and their Super Bowl win has only led to further questions over whether the Glazers will now plan to invest in United and help get them back to the top of English football.

This was one of the points of debate on Tuesday’s White and Jordan show, and talkSPORT pundit Simon Jordan suggested United fans are being hypocritical if they’re now asking for investment after years of shouting ‘Glazer out’.
“Manchester United fans are not interested in hearing from the Glazers,” said the former Crystal Palace owner. “They don’t want the Glazers there, they want to be free of them.
“They don’t think the Glazers have brought anything to the club, they loathe the way they financed the acquisition, they hate the interest, they hate the dividends, they don’t want the Glazers there.
“What they want to do is have an opportunity, and that’s their gift and their right to criticise the Glazers for being involved in a club in America that don’t give them the same sentiment as the club they own in the UK does.
“An absentee owner is an owner who starves the club of finances and doesn’t provide them with any support – like Ellis Short [at Sunderland] .

“People might call them ‘silent owners’, sure, but not long ago it was said ‘the best owners are the ones you don’t hear from’, so make your mind up!
“It’s not the owner you want to hear from, it’s the football manager you want to hear from, you want to do your centre-forward to the talking for the owners on the pitch, but scoring goals with the team at the top of the league.
“It’s just an opportunity to bash the Glazers. I’m not suggesting Man United fans are not right, because they’re perfectly entitled to have their view. But, really, they don’t want to hear from the Glazers, they want the Glazers to sling their hooks!

“I suspect Joel Glazer is a victim of the circumstances that surrounded his father’s purchase of Manchester United and his father’s ownership of Tampa Bay.
“I’m not saying it’s right, but he’s got a different relationship with those fans and it’s indigenous to the culture he’s been brought up in.
“And it’s like the Manchester United fans are now saying: ‘We don’t want to hear from you, you don’t like you, we think you’re a complete waste of time, we hate the fact you’re in our football club… but we do want to hear from you, because someone else has heard from you’.
“What kind of argument is that?”
