Jurgen Klopp has made it clear that making the top four is now the priority for Liverpool following their 4-1 humbling at the hands of Manchester City.
The thumping Anfield loss left the Reds 10 points behind the current leaders, who have played one match fewer, and their hopes of winning the Premier League again look remote.
Things are really going wrong for Klopp right nowAFP
Liverpool are now looking over their shoulder as the race for Champions League qualification becomes their priority. Chelsea and West Ham are only a point behind with Everton, who have two matches in hand, just three back.
It’s been a season to forget so far for Klopp’s men, who have been ravaged by injuries to key players such as Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez.
However, injuries are not solely to blame, and the Anfield hierarchy will no doubt know they need to be ruthless in an effort to freshen things up this summer with some new arrivals.
Some huge names have been linked with a switch to Merseyside, but there will have to be some outgoings if they are to facilitate deals for their top transfer targets.
One big name, therefore, could be sold. But who could that be and how could Liverpool look next season with after they conclude their transfer business? talkSPORT.com has formulated their potential XI…

As it stands, the superstar in Liverpool’s ranks who is most likely to leave this summer is Mohamed Salah.
Salah has expressed his disappointment with things this season, such as not being named captain for their dead-rubber Champions League clash against FC Midtjylland.
He has been frequently linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid or Barcelona and reports have suggested he is keen on a new challenge following his brilliant success in England since joining the Reds in 2017.
Salah, who has made his name as one of the world’s best players over the last four years, would undoubtedly draw in a big fee which Klopp could use to bolster his squad.

And the funds could go some way to drawing superstar Kylian Mbappe to Anfield.
Reports last week suggested Klopp was ‘pressing ahead’ with negotiations to sign the PSG forward, who has netted a staggering 107 goals in 149 appearances at the Parc des Princes at just 22 years of age, having been bought for £166million back in 2017
Mbappe recently hinted he could follow Neymar’s lead sign a new deal to stay at PSG, but only time will tell where his future lies.
Liverpool’s task of landing the World Cup winner will also be made harder given the fact he is Zinedine Zidane’s top target at Real Madrid, so if a deal is struck it will have to be done quickly.

The Anfield hierarchy also need to find a replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum, who looks set to leave this summer when his contract expires.
Barcelona look poised to land the Dutchman and he will need to be replaced, despite Thiago Alcantara’s arrival last summer.
James Milner is now deep into the tail-end of his career, and although he is ageing like a fine wine, he is already a squad player and his legs are bound to tire even more with each passing match.
talkSPORT reported that Liverpool expressed an interest to sign Brighton’s Yves Bissouma last month and they could reignite their pursuit of the midfielder in the summer.
The Mali international put in a brilliant performance against the Reds in November last year which caught the eye of Klopp, and it is believed would be available for a reasonable price.
However, he is not likely to displace Fabinho or Thiago in the XI – and that could spell bad news for Jordan Henderson in the first team.

The skipper is a fierce leader within the Reds’ ranks but he has not always been a regular in the XI.
Klopp dropped him for a period last season, and if Bissouma arrives he would likely be rotated by the boss as he has done with Wijnaldum in recent years.
Liverpool’s potential backline next season is also an interesting topic of conversation following the arrivals of Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies last month.
Kabak was signed on loan and the Reds have the option to make that move permanent in the summer for £19m, while Davies is seen as a back-up option at Anfield should one of the regulars pick up an injury.
Davies joined Liverpool from Preston for £1.6millionGETTY
If Kabak, who was hand-picked by Klopp, doesn’t perform well then someone else may well be bought permanently to replace Joe Gomez in the XI as partner to Virgil van Dijk in the centre of defence.
Dayot Upamecano could be available for £38million in the summer and it is a choice between the Premier League and Bayern Munich for him.
With Bissouma and Upamecano potentially arriving and Salah being replaced by Mbappe in a blockbuster deal, is this how Liverpool could line-up next season?
This is just one possible starting line-up for Liverpool next season, while a bench of Jota, Henderson is very strong, too
