Mike Tyson v Roy Jones Jr RESULT: Boxing legends DRAW in unofficial decision after entertaining eight-round exhibition fight

Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr clashed in an entertaining eight-round exhibition fight which was unofficially scored a draw on Saturday night in LA.
The 54 and 51-year-old heavyweight legends returned to the ring in a bizarre event from which nobody knew what to expect.
The two greats both did their best to put on a good show in LAGetty

Ultimately it played out in decent fashion and was by no means a disgrace to the sport both men love.
Prior to the first bell, fans were treated to a 20-minute set from Snoop Dogg who subsequently took up commentary duties.
Ne-Yo performed the US national anthem and then Jones Jr emerged for his ring walk.
Tyson followed soon afterwards wearing his traditional, iconic short black trunks.
Michael Buffer introduced both men and the contest got underway.

The fight began with Tyson charging across the ring at Jones Jr, who moved evasively early on.
‘Iron Mike’ hammered home body shots and Jones Jr clinched to keep him at bay.
Round two began in similar fashion and Tyson landed a notable left hook which caught Jones Jr clean.
The rest of the round was scrappy up until the final moments when Mike smashed with two big body shots after the bell.

Unlike in his younger days though, Tyson instantly apologised and hugged his opponent.
Jones began the third by again tying Tyson up and frustrating the aggressor.
He smothered most of Mike’s work, but was caught with a right hook to the body late on.
Both men exchanged further body blows in the fourth and understandably appeared tired as they reached the halfway point in the eight-rounder.

Tyson continued his dominance in round five and had Jones Jr backing away at times as they exchanged hooks up close.
The 51-year-old looked distressed in the corner before the start of the sixth, breathing incredibly heavily.
Jones Jr battled through regardless and carried his speed into round seven as he started throwing flashy combinations for the first time in the fight.
In the final round, Tyson threw one last assault at Jones and they exchanged blows in the final minute.
The final bell rang and both men embraced.

As was announced prior to the bout, the WBC appointed three ex-fighters to unofficially score the contest remotely – Chad Dawson, Vinny Pazienza and Christy Martin.
Their cards decided that the bout was a draw.
Tyson reacted: “I’m good with that. Yeah [I think I won the fight] , but I’m good with a draw because I entertained the fans.”
Jones Jr added: “Hell nah, I never thought the fight was a draw. I wear draws, I don’t do draws.”
Both men suggested they were also ready to fight again, and could even put on a rematch – with Tyson insisting his return is all to raise money for charity.
Whether there is an appetite for that remains to be seen.
While many were enthralled, Snoop Dogg perhaps summed it up best on commentary, when said it was like watching ‘two of my uncles fighting at a barbecue’.
