Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr will meet in an eight-round exhibition fight on Saturday that will serve as Iron Mike’s first fight in 15 years.
Two legends of the sport will meet in a fight where reports suggest they won’t be allowed to knock each other out, but if Tyson’s ferocity in training is to be believed, maybe they won’t have a choice.
Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr are legends of boxing, but there will a combined age of 105 in the ring on Saturday
However, much like Tyson’s intensity in the gym and inside the ring, his sense of humour is still going strong, too.
Ahead of the bout, Tyson posted a humorous video of him eating Thanksgiving dinner with his family and pretending to eat a turkey that was actually Jones Jr’s head!
He chooses to eat Jones’ Jr’s ear first and he even says mid-chew “This tastes much better than Evander’s!” in reference to biting off a chunk of Holyfield’s ear in 1997.
Check out the short clip below:
The once Baddest Man on the Planet was the youngest heavyweight champion in history at 20 and a former undisputed heavyweight champion.
Jones Jr won multiple world titles in four weight categories – all the way from middleweight up to heavyweight – and he was the undisputed light-heavyweight champion with a staggering 12 successful title defences in a row.
Now the two will meet with a combined age of 105 in the ring, but both men look in peak condition. In fact, Tyson is only a few pounds heavier than his prime thanks to a vegan diet.
Mike Tyson offered a Roy Jones Jr turkey to his children!
Tyson’s daughter took the nose, but, of course, Tyson took the ear!
Of course, Tyson is famous for his pre-fight comments in the past. He said he wanted to eat Lennox Lewis’ children in the past, so it’s nice to see he’s progressed from children to face-based turkey’s, at least!
The fight between Tyson and Jones Jr is likely to go down around 5am UK time and while it is Tyson’s first fight in 15 years, Jones Jr last fought in 2018.
In fact Jones Jr has had 22 fights since Tyson’s retirement!
