Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer told to ‘get cheque book out’ to sign Erling Haaland with Borussia Dortmund ace tipped to shine at Old Trafford for next DECADE

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been urged to get his cheque book out and sign Erling Haaland, who has been tipped to shine at Manchester United for the ‘next decade.’
Haaland broke onto the scene last season at Red Bull Salzburg before Dortmund beat United to his signature in a cut-price £18million move last January.

His breakthrough in 2020 saw him deservedly claim the Golden Boy award after he netted 44 goals in all competitions during 2019/20, with 28 scored for Salzburg in the first half of the season and then 16 in 18 matches for Dortmund.
Haaland has scored another 12 goals in 10 Bundesliga matches this season – behind only Robert Lewandowski (20) in the scoring charts.
Both United and Manchester City are understood to be interested in the Leeds-born striker.
And former United striker Michael Owen believes the 20-year-old could be the marquee signing Solskjaer needs to elevate his side to a new level.

Owen told Stadium Astro: “At the moment, Manchester United have struggled to find that young player that’s going to take them all the way as a No. 9.
“I think the one player out there that springs to mind that could be that type of player that could last for 10 years in their team and to stop them having to keep buying stop-gaps all the time is Haaland at Dortmund.
“I think he’s the player on everybody’s lips at the moment, so he is one player that I think could potentially be the No. 9 that could last a long time.
“If he had an open cheque book, if I was Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, I’d be playing [Rashford, Martial and Greenwood] in wider positions, and I’d probably try and buy someone like Haaland because that’s the future of your team for about 10 years.”
Haaland is said to be ready for the next step in his career, according to Germany legend Lothar Matthaus.

“This positivity that he radiates, radiates on the team which is why I think that someday, Haaland will not be playing at Dortmund anymore and will make the next step,” the Germany legend told the Bundesliga website.
“He is already ready and we are proud to have him in the Bundesliga.
“Dortmund need to be pleased to have gotten him because he is a striker that fits to a club with such emotions.
“At the age of 20, he is a machine. He is a flying striker. He brings a positive energy in the team while also scoring goals. He is irreplaceable.”
Haaland, whose current contract runs until 2024, insisted he remained content at the Westfalenstadion earlier this month despite being linked with a host of huge clubs in Europe.
“Have I been close to Juventus? That’s what they say, but I’ve never said it,” said Haaland in quotes reported by Tuttosport.
