Liverpool fans ‘should be worried’ about Manchester United after ‘title contenders’ performance’ to go top of the Premier League, say talkSPORT hosts

Liverpool fans ‘should be worried’ about Manchester United after they beat Burnley to knock the defending champions off the Premier League top spot.
That’s according to talkSPORT hosts Jason Cundy and Andy Goldstein, who believe the Red Devils should be considered genuine title challengers this season after going three points clear at the summit.
United were good value for their win – but it was far from easyAFP
Paul Pogba struck 19 minutes from time to secure a hard-fought 1-0 victory for United at Turf Moor on Tuesday night.
It meant United leap above Liverpool for the first time since the start of the 2019/20 season, and sit top of the table at this stage of the campaign for the first time since their title-winning 2012/2013 season under Sir Alex Ferguson.
Liverpool have been transformed into one of the world’s best teams in recent years, but it appears their old adversary is back.
But United will face the ultimate test of their title credentials when they travel to Anfield to face the Reds on Sunday.
But Red Devils fan Goldstein says the pressure will be off his team for that clash, and believes – for the first time in a while – Liverpool should be fearful of their old foes.

“There must be Liverpool fans slightly nervous now, I don’t believe any Liverpool fan who comes on this show and says they’re not,” said The Sports Bar host.
“And I’ll tell you why, because they’re not three points off United now, and if City win their two games in hand – and they will, because City look fantastic – they’ll be two points behind City.
“So effectively Liverpool, the champions, are now third in the Premier League, that’s how I see it.
“Liverpool fans should be worried because United will now go to that game with no pressure whatsoever, with an unbelievable away record in the league and will quite happily sit, park the bus and take a point.”

And Cundy also reserved a rare bit of praise for United after their win over a stubborn Burnley team, saying it was the sort of performance that wins titles.
“Credit to United, they had to do it a different way,” added the former Chelsea defender.
“In the opening 20 minutes Burnley suffocated them a little bit, they couldn’t get the ball into Fernandes or Pogba and it took them a while to get their game going.
“But credit to United, because there are lots of different ways to win a match and they had to fight because Burnley didn’t give you anything.

“You won’t look back in this game and think, ‘what a brilliant performance’, but you will look back and say, ‘that was a really good three points’.
“I’ve seen Liverpool do it, I’ve seen Chelsea do it, I’ve seen City do it and now I’ve seen United do it – when you go away to places like Burnley and you’re trying to win a title, those three points are hard-fought, rarely do they come easy.
“So credit to them. Burnley huffed and puffed but ultimately the quality showed.”
