Lionel Messi to Man City boost as former Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera casts doubt on PSG transfer due to FFP

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Ander Hererra has thrown doubt over Lionel Messi joining the French champions this summer, opening the door for a potential move to Manchester City.
The Barcelona superstar, 33, looks set to leave the Nou Camp on a free this summer, with his contract expiring and no likelihood of a renewal following his public fallout with the Spanish giants last year.

PSG and Manchester City have been linked with the Argentine based on the fact they are arguably the only two clubs in world football who can afford his astronomical wages.
But Herrera, the former Man United man, suggests Financial Fair Play restrictions may get in the way of Messi joining PSG – who already have the world’s two most expensive players in Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
“Messi, Neymar and Mbappe together? I don’t know how that would work with Financial Fair Play, but I don’t think so,” he told El Larguero (via AS).

France Football published a photoshopped image of Messi in a PSG shirt on its front cover earlier this week and claimed Neymar is playing a vital role in securing a move for his former Barcelona teammate.
It comes after Barca boss Ronald Koeman hit out at Angel Di Maria for publicly expressing his desire for Messi to join PSG.
And Herrera is reluctant to talk about Messi’s future out of respect for his current club.
“I’m not going to get into this one,” he added. “When everyone at Barca was talking about Neymar, inside and outside the club, we did not like it.
“I’m not going to do something that I don’t like being done to me. I have a lot of respect for Barca, Messi, his coach and his teammates.

“It is not a strategy. Me, I will not speak about him. I respect those who do it, but I put myself in the shoes of the club in which Messi has evolved.
“If I were I at Barca, I would not like people talking about Messi. It does not seem to me to be a lack of respect, but I will not do it”
