Kenny Omega says he’d be ‘all for’ AEW and WWE working together putting on event with fantasy matchups

AEW and WWE may be involved in the Wednesday Night Wars right now, but Kenny Omega wouldn’t rule out working with WWE down the line.
And the Canadian grappler doesn’t mean working for WWE, he means working with them to put on some dream cross-promotional matches.

Fans have often fantasised about Omega lining up against Seth Rollins, Daniel Bryan, Roman Reigns and many others on the biggest stage and it’s fair to say an event between the two promotions would be huge.
“If for some reason, WWE came knocking on our door and said, ‘hey, we would love to do a talent switch or tradeoff, or work together on something, I’d be all for it,” Omega told the Wrestling Observer.
“Whatever benefits the wrestling fan must always come first. When you start thinking about fantasy scenarios, if wrestlers crossed over like that, it gets really exciting.”
“I think this is the kind of shot in the arm that wrestling needs. Will we succeed in attracting more viewers than we already have at the table? We would never know until we tried,” Omega said.

It’s a great point from Omega. It could benefit both companies, but WWE would likely think there was more to gain for AEW than themselves.
AEW have proven to be very co-operative in the wrestling world. Having worked with IMPACT, NWA and New Japan thus far in their near two-year existence, Tony Khan has prided himself on being very easy to work with.
Vince McMahon and WWE often operate in their own little world. As the market leaders, they don’t feel the need to acknowledge or lift their competition and, certainly in McMahon’s lifetime, that’s unlikely to change.

Still, Omega’s open-mind and progressive thinking is the kind of ideologies that can give wrestling a new lease of life. While pro wrestling is in a good space, can it return to the glory days of the 90s and early 00s?
Coincidentally enough, in that timeframe was when WCW and WWE merged following the latter buying the former. Finally, wrestling fans got to witness many of the dream matches they never thought they’d get.
