Kamaru Usman hit Colby Covington so hard he broke his UFC welterweight rival’s jaw in their fight – a warning for Gilbert Burns?

Gilbert Burns finally has the chance to fight for Kamaru Usman’s UFC welterweight title.
Twice he has had to put off fighting for the belt and now has the chance at UFC 258.
Burns has won his last six fights, with victories coming at the expense of Tyron Woodley and Demian Meia in his previous two2020 Jeff Bottari
Usman, though, is undefeated in the UFC and successfully defended his title for a second time last summer, when he dominated Jorge Masvidal, who filled in for Burns on Fight Island.
The champion won welterweight gold in 2019 when he beat Tyron Woodley and then successfully defended his title against Colby Covington and Masvidal.
And Covington certainly knows Usman packs a punch.

The duo fought each other at UFC 245 in 2019 and in the build-up, Covington had been his loud, brash self and ultimately wrote a cheque he couldn’t cash.
Despite not being famed as a striker, Usman broke his opponent’s jaw in the third round before his TKO win in the fifth and final round. It was a fight that the judges had scored very evenly until that final round.
Covington later claimed his opponent faked injury to get some rest time during the fight and criticised the stoppage despite the state of his jaw.
He told BT Sport: “Going into the fight, I’ve got to be smart with who I pick my ref you know Marc Goddard completely f***** me, man.
“I kicked him in the liver and he’s about to fold like a lawn chair and quit the fight and be done but ‘ohhh my nuts’.
“He faked the nut shot. On the replay it obviously showed it was clearly in his liver. His organs were hurting and he just wanted a five minute break and that’s what he got.”
