Joaquin Buckley’s unbelievable knockout left Dana White Daniel Cormier, Israel Adesanya, Nate Diaz and more stunned – will there be more at UFC 255?

Joaquin Buckley is returning to the octagon on Saturday – just over a month after his jaw-dropping knockout was widely lauded as the greatest ever KO in UFC history.
The 26-year-old floored Impa Kasanganay with a spinning heel kick in Abu Dhabi and has been a fixture on the highlight reel ever since.

President Dana White was later heard telling the 11-3 fighter many people urged him to hand him ‘all the bonuses’.
Approaching the middleweight during a backstage interview, he was heard saying: “Everybody’s saying ‘just give him $200,000 tonight. Give him every bonus!’ Nobody’s ever seen anything like that.
“[UFC matchmaker] Sean Shelby texted me and said, ‘Write him a check right now for 50 grand and go give it to him before he gets out of the octagon.’”

“Aw naw, you gonna make me cry.”

Buckley was locked in a back and forth contest and found his ankle locked and with his back to Kasanganay.
However, using incredible technique and tae-kwon-do skills, ‘New Mansa’ unleashed ‘ninja s***’ and span Kasanganay’s eyes around in his head.
As ‘Tshilobo’ fell despondently to the canvas, the cheers echoing around ‘Flash Forum’ on Fight Island will have been heard for miles as commentators and coaches alike joined in the celebrations.
Speaking after the bout, the 26-year-old American confirmed he wanted $100,000 in bonuses from White.

He said: “The boss just told me that he wants to give me all of the bonuses, so I’m welcome to it, I want all of it.
To be honest with you, it’s surreal; a cloud came over my head when he was talking to me, so I couldn’t hear nothing, but once that money came in, once he talked about that, then it cleared up a little bit. But it’s awesome, it’s surreal that Dana White came over and talked to me.
“It was just open. I seen that he still had my legs, I was still able to balance with him grabbing my foot, so I just spun and kicked. I aimed and I fire and it got the result we needed. I know I landed flush, I didn’t know if I knocked him out though until he locked up and I said it was game over. I train it all the time, the only thing that was different was him holding my leg, but I practice it all the time.”

Buckley was indeed awarded a $50,000 bonus for ‘Performance of the Night’, one of four prizes handed out and he later revealed it also got him out of a jam when he was back home in St Louis.
Having just landed, he headed home from the airport on the train and spotted two policemen, who walked towards him.
“In my head, I’m thinking he’s gonna ask for my ticket, which I didn’t have at the time,” he told
Asked where he had flown in from, the officers then clocked who they were speaking to.
“I thought I was gonna have a whole different type of situation. But he was the first person to recognise me. So that was pretty different. But besides that, nothing really special has changed in my life. Not yet at least.”
He was back to working night shifts at pharmacy chain Walgreens soon after, but at least this time he doesn’t have too far to travel for his next fight, against Jordan Wright in Las Vegas.
