Harry Redknapp ‘not officially involved’ with Bournemouth and ‘just wants to help’ Jonathan Woodgate after chats with Cherries’ caretaker manager

Harry Redknapp has confirmed to talkSPORT he will not be joining Bournemouth in an official capacity after being asked to help out his former side at the request of interim boss Jonathan Woodgate.
The 73-year-old, who managed the Cherries between 1983 and 1992, attended Monday’s training session at the club’s Kings Park first-team training complex.

But Redknapp, whose last managerial role was with Birmingham in 2017, has no intention of making a permanent return to football any time soon and insists he is just offering a helping hand to his former Tottenham defender.
He told White and Jordan on talkSPORT: “Jonathan Woodgate has come in and taken over Bournemouth in temporary charge.
“He rang me up and said, ‘Harry, look, I don’t really know anybody up here, so if I need any insight or advice into the club would you help?’
“And I said, ‘Of course. I’m here for you, not a problem’. And Woody said, ‘Well maybe if you come and watch training one day, and we’ll have a cup of tea and a chat’.
“So of course I did; I’ve got nothing else to do!
“If I can help him in any small way, no problem. But officially? No. Not involved.
“I don’t really want to be involved, in all honesty. I just want to help if I can.”
Redknapp added: “I love the club and I love Woody, so that’s the only interest for me.

“Every year I buy my season tickets for Bournemouth and I take my grandkids. It’s where I go every Saturday to watch football.
“So Jonathan wants to know my opinion on the players and where’s best for them or whatever, so I can help him.”
Former Middlesbrough boss Woodgate will remain in caretaker charge for the Cherries’ FA Cup game with Burnley on Tuesday night, having led the Championship promotion hopefuls to a 3-2 victory over Birmingham on Saturday.
