Harry Kane scores superb diving header but Tottenham throw away another lead as they draw with Fulham and Gareth Bale remains an unused substitute

Tottenham Hotspur suffered another costly slip up in their bid to be Premier League title challengers as they drew 1-1 with Fulham in north London.
Harry Kane had scored a stunning goal in the first-half but a headed goal from Ivan Cavaleiro left Jose Mourinho’s men guilty of the same mistake they made against Wolves and Crystal Palace.

Tottenham once again, appeared content with their one-goal lead, although they did trouble Alphonse Areola more than they have done some goalkeepers in recent weeks.
But the dangerous game they continue to play failed with Fulham, who always looked like they could cause Spurs a nuisance, striking 16 minutes from time.
It gave Scott Parker’s side a fifth successive draw, which they will be delighted by, even if they don’t move out of the relegation zone.
But Mourinho will be furious with more dropped points, leaving them in sixth spot, when they could have gone third.

Had Sergio Reguilon shown a touch more composure then Spurs could have been ahead after just six minutes but he lashed over the bar with his right-foot from a central position in the penalty area.
Fulham weren’t about to sit back and made life difficult for their hosts but, despite a fair amount of pressure, were unable to truly test Hugo Lloris.
At the opposite end, Mourinho’s side created another good chance before the 20 minute mark but Heung-Min Son’s header was outstandingly repelled by Alphonse Areola and a free-kick a few moments later was deflected safely behind too.
They were ahead after 25 minutes though, as Kane’s diving header, from a stunning Reguilon cross, found the back of the net via the inside of the post.
It’s now six goals in four games for the striker against the Cottagers, and he could have had a couple more too.

Kane missed another great opportunity moments later but it’s likely, had he put the ball in the net rather than over the bar, it would have been ruled out for offside.
For all of Fulham’s good play, it’s sloppiness which always looked likely to cost them dearly against their opponents in N17.
Chelsea loanee Ruben Loftus-Cheek almost grabbed a spectacular volley for the west Londoners, while Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg had a tame shot when well-placed as both sides spurned chances.
In the second period, the hosts nearly started in stunning fashion but a wild run from Moussa Sissoko was excellently ended by Tosin Adarabioyo just as the Frenchman was pulling the trigger from close range.

Harry Winks was the next to produce a fine save from Areola but Fulham still posed a threat and never looked out of the match, which will have made Mourinho nervy.
Late goals conceded against Liverpool, Wolves, and Crystal Palace will not have be forgotten by the Portuguese, despite their strengthen defence this term.

Hojbjerg was booked as Fulham ramped up the pressure – but Spurs on the break are a dangerous beast and Son was a whisker from doubling their lead but his dribbled effort rebounded off the post after a lovely ball from Tanguy Ndombele.
And Tottenham would regret that miss with 16 minutes to go as Cavaleiro struck.
A neat cross-field passage of play put the ball on the left flank and substitute Ademola Lookman’s superb cross was met by the Portuguese and the header flew past the airborne Lloris.

Spurs appeared shocked by the goal, despite previous failures, and made a flurry of substitutions.
Reguilon thought he’d grabbed a winner but his effort was ruled out for an offside earlier in the move, leaving all concerned frustrated.
