‘Hakim Ziyech is the left-footed Kevin De Bruyne’ – Chelsea ace lauded and compared to Man City star by Steve McClaren

Chelsea playmaker Hakim Ziyech has been one of the Premier League’s best players so far this season.
And Steve McClaren, the former England manager and Manchester United assistant coach, believes he is the ‘left-footed Kevin De Bruyne’.

Ziyech was signed by the Blues from Ajax in February, and joined his current employers during the summer transfer window.
He was a star performer for the Dutch giants, and has continued his fine form in English football after a delayed start due to injury.
Seven appearances have brought a return of two goals and three assists, and his passing and skill on the ball has been lauded by all observers.
And McClaren, who managed in the Eredivisie with Ziyech’s former club Twente – though their paths did not cross in the Netherlands – believes he is as good as Man City ace De Bruyne.

“They’ve got a great scouting system in Holland, and at Twente, the four years I was there, we brought many players through from different countries,” said McClaren ahead of talkSPORT’s LIVE Premier League commentary of the Chelsea vs Newcastle clash on GameDay.
“Diamonds they were, really rough diamonds, street players, but Holland was perfect for them and Ziyech is just that.
“He has confidence, bordering on arrogance. He is a maverick, a street player; he is different, and needs nurturing in a different way.
“He’s not every managers’ cup of tea, but I watched Ajax a lot and watched him and he is the left-footed De Bruyne.

“He can see things; from the stands you can see things and he can see them from the field. He is incredible.
“And he can deliver; he can score and assist. You can build a team around him.
“And when he’s been playing for Chelsea there have been moments of pure magic.”
