Ben Chilwell and Kai Havertz boost but Thiago Silva journey means another rest as Chelsea take on Newcastle

Frank Lampard certainly won’t thank the Premier League for giving Chelsea the lunchtime slot on Saturday immediately after the international break.
Especially when the Blues rely so heavily on a 36-year-old who’s travelling back from South America.

Thiago Silva, who has been immense for Chelsea since arriving in the summer, played all 90 minutes of Brazil’s victories over Venezuela and Uruguay, on Saturday and Tuesday respectively.
Last time the Brazil captain returned from international duty, Lampard decided not to throw him straight back into domestic action, so expect that trend to continue with Chelsea in the early kick-off – which is live on talkSPORT this weekend.
Besides the ongoing injury struggles of Christian Pulisic, who was sent home from USA duty due to more hamstring problems, it was an otherwise positive international break for Chelsea.
Chilwell’s injury during England’s defeat to Belgium turned out to be nothing serious as the left-back was on the bench for the following match against Iceland.
Meanwhile, there were goals for a multitude of Blues stars, as N’Golo Kante, Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic, Hakim Ziyech, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Olivier Giroud all netted for their countries.
It leaves Chelsea well poised to continue their fine goalscoring form, having scored 20 goals in just ten Premier League games so far this season.

Elsewhere, Kai Havertz has been given the all-clear to return to Chelsea training having tested positive for COVID-19 several weeks ago.
Self-isolation may have hindered his match fitness, so we expect him to start on the bench at St James’ Park.
Other than that, Frank Lampard has a full-strength squad at his disposal – and here is how we expect him to use it:
